Atzinger Gardens is a locally owned company serving the Ann Arbor area, dedicated to designing, installing, and maintaining beautiful private gardens. As a Gardener Crew Member, you will work outdoors in some of the region’s most attractive residential landscapes, gaining hands-on experience in horticulture and landscape installation. Responsibilities
- Perform garden maintenance tasks such as weeding, pruning, mulching, planting, and transplanting in residential gardens.
- Assist with garden installation projects, including demolition, soil preparation, and basic hardscape construction (e.g., stone pathways, patios, dry-stacked walls).
- Care for and organize tools, equipment, and supplies both on job sites and at the shop.
- Communicate effectively with Crew Leaders and team members to achieve project goals.
- Identify and address maintenance needs in client gardens as they arise.
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
- Accurately track hours worked, report schedule changes in advance, and maintain punctuality.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in gardening, plants, and outdoor landscape design.
- Willingness to learn plant identification, soil management, and installation techniques (training provided).
- Ability to distinguish basic plant and weed characteristics.
- Reliable personal transportation (mileage reimbursement available for work-related travel).
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on hands and knees outdoors in a range of weather conditions.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to work at least 3–4 full days per week, seasonally from March through December.
Compensation
$16.50–$19.50 per hour , based on experience and skills.
