D is for Doggy – Downtown NYC

At D is for Doggy, we give city dogs the space to play, learn, and relax while their parents are away. Our team makes that possible — keeping tails wagging, playgroups safe, and customers feeling confident every day.

We're looking for a Daycare Kennel Attendant who's passionate about dogs, thrives in active environments, and takes pride in doing things the right way. If that sounds like you, keep reading.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Watch and Care for Dogs: Supervise playgroups, monitor interactions, and ensure a safe, positive environment at all times.

  • Notice the Details: Spot and report any changes in behavior, health, or mood — early awareness keeps everyone safe.

  • Keep Things Running Smoothly: Assist with dog check-ins, feeding, cleaning, and logging daily activity or health notes.

  • Work as a Team: Communicate clearly with fellow staff and managers to keep operations organized and dogs cared for.

  • Talk with Pet Parents: Provide friendly, confident updates and help answer questions when needed.

  • Stay Flexible: Jump in wherever needed — cleaning, walking, helping groomers, or resetting rooms.

  • Keep It Clean: Maintain a spotless, sanitary environment for the dogs and staff.

What You Bring

  • A love for dogs and genuine enjoyment being around them all day.

  • Patience and composure — you don't rattle easily in loud, energetic settings.

  • A good eye for behavior and body language — you can sense when a dog's uncomfortable or excited.

  • Reliability, punctuality, and accountability.

  • Clear communication and teamwork skills.

  • Comfort working on your feet all day, lifting dogs or cleaning as needed.

Great Backgrounds for This Role

  • Prior work in dog daycare, shelters, vet clinics, or kennels .

  • Customer-facing jobs like restaurants, childcare, or hospitality , where multitasking and people skills matter.

  • Hands-on pet experience — dog walking, pet sitting, grooming, or training .
