Job Description The Ohio University Department of
Philosophy is hiring one or more faculty members as an Assistant Professor of Instruction with expertise in social and political philosophy
and additional competence in environmental ethics and in 17th and 18th century Western philosophy. The person hired will be expected to
teach four courses per semester, with at least some sections each semester dedicated to courses that include an emphasis on the
philosophical foundations of American civics literacy. The position is full-time, non-tenure-track, benefits-eligible, and begins in Fall
2026. This position can be renewable annually depending upon available funding, performance, and continuing departmental
need.
Minimum Qualifications PhD in philosophy in hand by the start date of appointment, Fall
Semester 2026.
Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates with strong
evidence of excellence in teaching.
